What Is IAC 2026? Dates, Agenda and the 77th International Astronautical Congress
Antalya, which is often associated with beach holidays, will take on a very different focus in October 2026. Participants from the global space community, including researchers, scientists, businesses and students, will arrive in Belek for IAC 2026.
The International Astronautical Congress 2026 will take place at the NEST Congress & Exhibition Center in Belek from 5 to 9 October 2026. The IAC 2026 Türkiye edition will mark the first time the Congress is hosted in Türkiye.
What Is the IAC (International Astronautical Congress)?
The International Astronautical Congress is an annual gathering of professionals from the global space community in one place. Organised by the International Astronautical Federation (IAF), it brings industry experts and students together to share research, discuss new developments and build international connections.
The Congress extends beyond a traditional space conference. The programme includes technical sessions, plenary events, exhibitions, networking opportunities and interactive discussions.
Space professionals, industry leaders, researchers, entrepreneurs, students and policymakers participate in the programme. The IAC brings together professionals working across different fields of the space sector.
Why Does the 77th IAC Matter? A First for Türkiye
The 77th International Astronautical Congress is particularly significant for Türkiye because it will be the first time the country is hosting it. After a bid was presented by the Turkish Space Agency (TUA), with SAHA Istanbul as co-host, Türkiye was selected to host the Congress. Antalya was chosen by the IAF General Assembly in 2023.
For the host country, the event is an opportunity to welcome the international space community and present its developing potential in space and aerospace. For international visitors, it’s a chance to combine a major professional event with a stay in Antalya.
The official IAC website states that more than 10,000 participants from over 100 countries are expected to attend the event in Antalya.
When and Where Is IAC 2026 Taking Place?
The IAC 2026 dates are from 5 to 9 October 2026 and the Congress will be held at the NEST Congress & Exhibition Center in Belek, Antalya, Türkiye. Although the event is referred to as IAC 2026 Antalya, the venue is located in Belek, Antalya.
This location also places delegates close to one of the major resort areas of Antalya. The website says that many hotels and additional accommodation options are within walking distance from the NEST.
The IAC 2026 Theme: “The World Needs More Space”
The official theme of IAC 2026, “The World Needs More Space”, focuses on the idea that space should remain secure, accessible and open to peaceful and sustainable exploration. It also highlights growing cooperation between countries and companies across the global space economy.
The theme will guide many of the discussions throughout the Congress. Rather than focusing solely on individual space missions, the theme encourages a broader perspective on space exploration, technology and international cooperation.
The programme will cover much more than rockets and space travel. The programme brings together technical sessions, plenary events, exhibitions, networking opportunities and discussions across different areas of the space sector.
Who Organizes IAC 2026? IAF, TUA and SAHA Istanbul
The International Astronautical Congress IAC 2026 has three main organisers:
The International Astronautical Federation (IAF) is the main organiser of the annual IAC. Founded in 1951, it unites organisations from the global space community and promotes international cooperation.
The Turkish Space Agency (TUA) is hosting the 2026 Congress and is responsible for coordinating Türkiye’s national space programme and related strategic activities.
SAHA İstanbul Aerospace Cluster is the co-host that gathers companies, universities and other organisations working across aerospace and related industries in Türkiye.
These organisations are working together to bring the 77th International Astronautical Congress to Antalya for its first edition in Türkiye.
IAC 2026 Registration and How to Attend
Those interested in attending IAC 2026 can register through the official IAC website. Registration is open for different categories like delegates, professionals, students, teachers and retired participants. There is also an option for accompanying-person registration.
A standard registration includes access to the plenary programme, scientific & technical sessions, exhibition hall, opening & closing ceremonies and selected Congress events. Supporting documents would be required for some categories.
The official website provides the latest information on registration and attendance. You can refer to the official website for information about hotel accommodation reserved for delegates in Belek and the surrounding areas. Given the expected demand, booking accommodation in advance may be helpful.
Where to Stay in Antalya During IAC 2026
Since the Congress venue is in Belek, staying nearby can offer greater convenience, particularly during the multi-day programme. Staying nearby also means spending less time travelling to and from the venue after a full day of sessions and meetings.
Space congress delegates looking for some Antalya Belek hotel accommodation options can consider Gloria Hotels & Resorts. Its Belek properties include Gloria Golf Resort, Gloria Serenity Resort and Gloria Verde Resort. Each resort offers a range of accommodation options for different travel needs.
A resort stay can create a natural balance between professional commitments and personal time. After a day of meetings and sessions, delegates can return to the resort, enjoy a meal and unwind before the next day of the Congress.
The Space Congress 2026 will span five days and bring together an international community of delegates. Therefore, planning accommodation early can be useful.
